SUMMARY:                The candidate will join our medicinal chemistry team in drug discovery and play a role in identifying clinical candidates.  The successful candidate will drive the design and synthesis of lead compounds, contribute to the management of external chemistry activities, and bring synthetic tactics to Brii Bio discovery programs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply organic and medicinal chemistry skills in the design and synthesis of novel small molecules as potential drug candidates.

  • Closely follow emerging results of biological testing, ADME characterization, and other lead profiling assays; proactively propose new strategies and new target molecules to improve key drug attributes.

  • Identify routes leading to the efficient synthesis of high-priority target molecules and/or solving critical synthetic challenges.

  • Contribute to manage external chemistry efforts, providing synthetic expertise in a collaborative fashion.

  • Regularly summarize results and provide progress updates to the chemistry and cross-functional project teams.

  • Contribute to the writing of patent applications, study reports, and scientific publications.

  • Assist in ordering supplies, managing sample shipments. Maintains project timelines and participates actively in team meetings.

  • Assist in managing collaborations with CRO/CMO for outsourcing activities and ensure reporting timelines for medicinal/process chemistry related reports.

  • Participates in the development and conduct of laboratory meetings, updating group members on background and status of projects by giving oral updates and/or internal presentations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/MS in organic chemistry with a 5+ years of post-undergrad/graduate medicinal chemistry experiences in pharmaceutical or bio-pharma industry

  • Highly skilled synthetic chemist with strong background in complex molecule synthesis and/or methods development experience with capability of identification and solving of synthetic issues, and a wide range of knowledges about techniques related to multi-step synthesis, purification, and spectroscopic analysis

  • Proven track record of achievements through conceptual thinking and translation to results, as demonstrated by publications, presentations, patent applications and/or industry success.

  • Skillful in medicinal chemistry and understand structure activities relationship

  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic; fast learner who can identify the core project challenges and can work in a fast-paced team environment, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing work from multiple projects

  • Team player who will be able to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

  • A commitment to excellence, maintaining detailed records and having great data and document organization skills

  • Skilled in literature searching about organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills including ability to work in inter-disciplinary and cross-functional teams and to communicate scientific information clearly and effectively; Fluent in English and Chinese is preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required; Strong sense of responsibility, devotion, innovation and teamwork
