SUMMARY: In anticipation of the Company’s growth plans, Brii Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientific leader to join the fast-paced biopharmaceutical research group. The incumbent will have responsibilities in both the research and clinical development groups. Specifically, this leadership role will work closely with internal and external partners to formulate novel antiviral and/or immunotherapeutic discovery blueprints, lead execution of robust, decision-enabling preclinical studies to inform the strategy. The candidate will also be involved in clinical translational strategic planning and study execution, leading to early proof-of-concept. A good understanding of drug discovery and early development of small and large molecule drugs in the therapeutic areas of infectious diseases or immune diseases; regulatory processes, and biomarkers is required. The experience in developing and advancing cutting-edge therapeutics by driving scientific innovation, excellence and rigor in partnership and collaboration with academia and CROs is preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual, through his/her immunology expertise as it relates to immune biology to the targets, immune response to therapeutics and immunoassay development, will contribute to building development strategies to enable progression of R&D projects.
Establish research priorities, resourcing and scientific outcomes to best manage the direction of immunotherapeutic bispecific antibody programs through the toll gates
This role also provides scientific leadership in the development, validation, transfer, and troubleshooting of in vitro and in vivo assays (including pharmacology, pharmacokinetic, immunogenicity, biomarkers and others as needed) to support Brii's immunotherapeutic portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have pharmaceutical industry experience in the development of biologics
Drug development experience should encompass transition from nonclinical to clinical drug development.
Candidates should have experience in contributing to advancing drug candidates to and through clinical development in a matrix team environment as a project team representative and/or interacting with global health authorities. In particular, contributing the expertise to the translational medicine related immunological study design, protocol writing and overall study execution in support of ongoing proof-of-concept clinical studies in different disease areas.
Candidate should have experience to oversee interaction with external academic, biotech and contract research organizations; manage external research collaborations to ensure project progress aligned with internal strategies as well as discovery effort in identifying novel targets/pathways and connecting cutting-edge science with unmet medical need.
MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree with leadership experience in a discipline of biological sciences (i.e., Immunology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Bioanalytical or a related field)
A minimum of 8-10 years post-PhD/MD experience in an academic and/or industry setting.
8+ years leading high functioning teams within Research Biology
Demonstrated application of expertise to discovery research through early clinical development of small molecule and/or biologic therapeutic modalities in the area of infectious diseases and immune diseases
Working knowledge and hands on experience with a wide range of innate/adaptive immunoassays; cellular and biochemical immunoassays, cell and tissue culture, and state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques.
Demonstrated innovation and the ability to apply knowledge, techniques and skills
Demonstrated knowledge of immunoassays for pharmacokinetic, immunogenicity, biomarkers
Thought leader for the department with respect to immune response to immunotherapeutic and immunoassay development.
Must possess outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written in English, with the ability to deliver scientific information and proposals to audiences at all levels and functions; builds and maintains network with academic institutions/translation service providers companies as needed
Experience and established track record in working with cross-functional matrix teams
